5 Reasons to Visit Rome, Italy This Year on Holiday

Rome is one of the most tourist friendly cities in the world and there are a number of reasons why visitors would choose to go to Rome on their holiday. Whether it is the history, the architecture, the friendly locals, the beauty of the city or a need to get away from your daily routine, Rome has plenty to offer its visitors. If you are planning to take a holiday this year, here are five reasons why Rome should be the place you choose.
     1. Vatican City - The Vatican is the head of the Roman Catholic Church and is one of the most popular reasons why people visit Rome every year. Vatican City is very close to Rome, and visitors will be able to understand the history and power that the church wields; devotees who travel here will be able to attend a mass and if they are lucky they might even get a glimpse of the pope. The Fra Angelicos, Saint Peters Basilica and the Sistine Chapel are important attractions located in Vatican City.
     2. Sightseeing Views - Rome is built on seven hills and as a result it has one of the most varied sets of vantage points in the world. The most famous views are available on top of the Spanish Steps and tourists and locals alike go there to watch the sunset. Other observation points include the Pincio, which is located on the fringe of the Borghese gardens, from where one can obtain spectacular views of Saint Peters, while the best views of the Forum are seen from behind the Piazza Campidoglio.
      3. Churches - The city of Rome is the location of some of the most beautiful churches in the world. The historic centre of the city houses over 400 churches, including the famous San Clemente. The Sacro Cuore de Suffragio, which is a Neo-gothic structure, is another church that is worth visiting.
      4. Architecture - Rome has more than its fair share of beautiful buildings, which not only offer a glimpse into the Roman Empire, but also form an integral part of human history. The most notable of these structures are the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, the Forum and the Coliseum.
     5. Art - Visitors to Rome will have the chance to see some of the most famous sculptures and paintings in the world. There are a number of art galleries and museums that contain the works of artists from different eras. Raphael, Bernini, Caravaggio and Titian have all been inspired by Rome and art lovers will be able to view their works here.
